So the pict of the shoes is actually my new pair of sneaks I bought on the 31st. Saucony...they are super nice. I actually went and had myself fitted and reviewed by the local running store and am very pleased with my purchase so far.
Right now my big kick is Special K protein water and ZBars (Cliff bars for kids)...gives me my afternoon pick me up to help me get through an afternoon workout.
Each time I hit the pavement I make a little goal for myself. Today, since it was the first time out in a long time, my goal was to jog the whole thing (no matter how slow I had to go). Little goals keep me motivated.
Someone told me once...don't talk about it...just get out there and do it!

I've been dragging my gym bag to and from work for the past week. I brought my bag today and I knew that I would finally work out but I didn't know that I would run a mile without stopping. After reading about your 3 miles, it changed my thought process. At first, I was thinking that I would start with intervals; run, walk, run, walk...but I started thinking about just 'doing it'. So, I set a goal for half a mile. After I hit that goal, I took an inventory of how I was feeling and realized that this was an important decision. I could stop because I met my goal or I could keep going because my body would allow me to. That's always been my problem with running, I stop for no good reason. At 1 mile, I was tired and my body said so, not my mind. I did a total of 30 minutes on the treadmill for 1.6 miles. I'm very pleased with my first day. Like you said, it's not about the speed, it's about getting it done! Perhaps, I'll get a chance to go to the gym this evening to put in some more time.
