Finding the time...

So I think the hardest thing for me these days - or at least the last COUPLE days of "training"-and what I foresee as a challenge in the next 10 weeks is finding the time to get out there. By no means am I fast runner so even 3 miles takes a good 1/2 hour + away from my motherly/wife responsibilities at home...never mind leaving the Mr. with 2 small kids :) I'm sure he loves me for that.

So what to do?? Here are a few things I've done to help me get organized and out there...
  • Save my long runs for the weekend - this way the Mr. doesn't feel so stressed with the kiddies
  • Prep dinner before I head out for an evening run
  • If Dad bathes the kids, I put them to bed - splitting evening duties helps lessen the load and stress
  • Run every other day or every couple days - it seems to be working so far...no one's yelling at me to stop running :)

And of course I couldn't do any of it without the support of my husband...he makes all the difference in the world and I seriously wouldn't be able to meet my goals without him. (I sound like a sap, right? But it's true...damn, if he reads this, he'll for sure have an ego)

I haven't tried waking up early in the a.m. to hit the pavement, although, it sounds like an excellent idea. I tend to stay up late so waking up early isn't really an option. But maybe on the rare occasion I am awake that early I might head out. Mind you, I do prefer a morning run...but 5 AM is WAY too early for me on a weekday.

I've also said I'd bring my gear to work and run around that area or by the kids' daycare (some nice long routes) so this way I can go right after work and still pick up the kids at a decent hour and be home to start dinner. Of course I'm not so sure how much the teachers will love me picking up the kids smelling like butt!

Well those are some suggestions...please feel free to leave a comment or two on what you do to find the time. Any and all suggestions are welcome and much appreciated.

Good luck!
